Harrington College of Design's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Design degree program is for students who want to go beyond graphic design into the fast-paced, yet exciting world of art and creative directing. Our interdisciplinary curriculum helps shape students to become creative leaders, not technicians.
A Communication Design degree program can be the first step toward a rewarding professional life in these and other media-based careers*:
Senior Graphic Designer: oversees a team of designers, critiquing the work and helping ensure productive workflow while creating his or her own layouts.
Illustrator: fulfills a creative vision with sketches and drawings for books, brochures, ads, billboards and more, working within an agency or as a freelancer.
Account Manager: helps balance art and business to find solutions to client needs while ensuring projects stay on-time and on-budget as the liaison between an agency's creative team and the client.
Production Manager: sees a design solution through to completion, overseeing workflow, preparing files for print, attending press checks and ensuring quality on the final product.
Art Director: consults with clients, copywriters and art staff to develop the design and copy that go into layouts used in media such as magazines, television, packaging and outdoors signs.
Studio Manager: leads, inspires and manages a group of creatives towards the goal of creating effective design solutions while running a profitable business.
