HARRINGTON COLLEGE OF DESIGN THINKS PINK FOR Y-ME

For Immediate Release

(CHICAGO – March 16, 2006) – In conjunction with its 75th anniversary, Harrington College of Design students, staff and faculty have joined forces with Y-ME, a nonprofit organization for breast cancer support, to host a “Specialty Pink Drinks” fundraising event on Wednesday, April 5 at 5 p.m. at Lloyd’s restaurant, 1 South Wacker Dr.

The event will feature four different pink drinks, which will honor Harrington students, faculty and administrators and their families who are currently battling breast cancer. The price of drinks ranges between $4 and $10, with $1 of the proceeds benefiting Y-ME. The event will also include a raffle. Proceeds from the raffle will go to Y-ME as well.

"Part of Harrington’s mission is to serve the global community. Breast cancer is a health concern that has touched the lives of Harrington’s staff, faculty and administrators," says Nicole Goldsbury, Harrington staff accountant. "We’ve created this fundraiser as a proactive way to help this cause."

The group of Harrington students, staff and faculty organizing the pink drink event will also be walking at the Mother’s Day 5K Y-ME race in Chicago.

"We are thrilled to have Harrington onboard for this unique fundraiser," says Kendra Hillmer, special events coordinator for Y-ME. "The mission of Y-ME is to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone and Harrington’s show of solidarity to its students and faculty is exactly what we’re working to accomplish."

The student is challenged to develop critical thinking, conceptualization, and spatial visualization abilities.
